Fulham return to Craven Cottage to take on West Ham United in the fourth matchweek of the 2024/25 Premier League season. After a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town in their last outing, Marco Silva’s men will look to build on their promising start to the campaign. Meanwhile, West Ham are aiming to find consistency after a mixed set of results so far this season.
Form Guide
4 points from the first 3 games for Fulham isn't a terrible result but the Ipswich game was disappointing and Fulham will be hoping to get back on winning terms with some tricky fixtures to come after this game.
West Ham have had a mixed start to the season with a win against Palace but losses to Villa and Man City who are both strong sides. As they've played teams at both ends of the table it's hard to know this early in the season where West Ham will be hoping to end up.
Head-to-Head Record
Despite doing the double over West Ham last season, before that, Fulham hadn't won against the Hammers since 2014, scoring just 2 goals in the 6 games in that period. Hopefully for Fulham last seasons results will be front of mind this time around.
Key Player Analysis
Lucas Paquetá The Brazilian has pulled the strings for West Ham since joining in 2022 and was close to joining Man City last summer until a number of charges for spot fixing were leveled at the player. Whilst he waits for a hearing to confirm what could be a lengthy suspension, Paquetá is clearly one of the most talented players at West Ham and likely to cause Fulham's midfield and defence constant troubles on the weekend
Tactical Preview
Fulham are expected to continue their high-intensity, attacking approach. With Lukic and Pereira sitting deep but pushing the team forward, Fulham will likely aim to control possession and apply pressure from the start. West Ham are no pushovers, though, and will look to hit Fulham on the counter with the pace of Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen, supported by Paquetá’s playmaking abilities. Fulham’s defence will need to remain organised to prevent West Ham from exploiting gaps on the break.
Predicted Lineups
Fulham: Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Pereira; Traore, Smith-Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz
West Ham: Areola; Mavropanos, Kilman, Wan-Bissaka, Emerson; Paquetá, Kudus, Álvarez, Bowen, Rodriguez, Antonio
Jack's Top Tip
I think it's definitely time for Muniz to score his first goal and this one has a number of goals in it. I'm predicting a 3-2 Fulham win with Muniz to get a goal at any time.
Fun Facts
Did You Know? Fulham completed a league double over West Ham for the first time since the 1965/66 season during the 2023/24 campaign.
Fun Fact: West Ham United’s nickname, “The Hammers,” comes from the club’s origins as a works team for Thames Ironworks, a major shipbuilding company. The crossed hammers in the club’s crest represent the tools used by ironworkers.
