For our first ever edition of our International Supporters Spotlight, we’re thrilled to introduce Fulham in the South, a passionate supporters’ group hailing from the Southern United States.

Founded by dedicated fans who found themselves drawn to the charm of Craven Cottage and the grit of Fulham’s players, this group offers a welcoming community for those who cheer on the Whites from afar.

Getting to Know Fulham in the South:

The journey to becoming a Fulham supporter can often be traced back to a few key moments or players that capture the heart. For many in this group, it was the mid-2000s when Fulham, with its unique atmosphere and gritty players, started drawing attention. “I followed the Premier League for a while and always found myself watching Fulham matches during that time. When Clint Dempsey signed, that really cemented it for me. The Cottage always had this aura about it that drew me in, and the determination shown by players like Dempsey and Danny Murphy resonated deeply with me.”

The inspiration to start or join a supporters’ group often comes from a desire for community, especially when being a Fulham fan can feel a bit isolating. “Proximity played a big role, and the fact that I had never met a Fulham supporter in person outside of SW6 made it even more appealing. It’s nice to have a community when I felt isolated previously. Working in the service industry makes it hard to attend all the meetups, but it’s comforting to know that I can join in when I can, and I’m always welcomed with open arms.”

Growing the Community:

Supporters’ groups often grow organically over time, sometimes slowly but steadily, as like-minded fans find each other. “From my perspective, it’s been a slow growth, but that’s okay. I love knowing that with any given match, there will at least be an online watch or an in-person meetup when everything aligns.”

Watching Fulham matches from afar presents its own set of challenges and joys. “Aside from the early kick-offs, it’s not too bad. I generally just roll out of bed and turn on the match at home. Working nights makes it difficult sometimes, but I’m doing my best to make it work.”

Regular meetups are a highlight for many supporters’ groups, offering a chance to connect in person. “When time permits, meetups are regular, though I don’t get to attend them as often as I’d like. Still, it’s nice to know they exist. The folks at Fulham in the South are top-notch, and Jason and Terri do a fantastic job of creating a welcoming environment.”

The Heart of Fulham Fandom:

Being a Fulham supporter brings a unique set of joys, sometimes even in the reactions of others. “The look on people’s faces when I tell them I support Fulham is priceless! But in all seriousness, this club mirrors a lot of my own experiences—the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the joy and heartbreak. Following Fulham gives me inspiration.”

Supporters’ groups thrive on the dedication of key members who often go above and beyond. “Terri and Jason are the big ones in our group. From my very first interaction with them, they’ve been nothing short of hospitable and kind, really setting the tone for the group.”

There are always standout moments that define a group’s experience together. “For me, it was my first match with the group, watching Fulham take on Leeds with some Leeds supporters present. It was a great way to kick off the season and my first time meeting everyone in person.”

Looking Ahead:

As the group continues to grow, so too do their hopes for Fulham FC. “I’d love to see our group and the club continue to grow. It would be amazing to see more Fulham fans pop up in my area.”

For anyone interested in joining this passionate group of Fulham supporters, you can follow Fulham in the South on Facebook and Twitter. Whether you’re looking to attend watch parties or just connect with fellow fans, this group is always ready to welcome new members.
