Fulham wrapped up their pre-season campaign on a high note, securing a solid 2-0 win against Hoffenheim in Germany in front of a crowd of more than 9,000 fans. The victory showcased the team's readiness for the upcoming Premier League season, with standout performances from Alex Iwobi, Emile Smith Rowe, and Adama Traoré.

Iwobi Shines as Fulham's Creative Force
Alex Iwobi was the star of the match, playing a crucial role in both of Fulham’s goals. The Nigerian international was at his creative best, delivering two perfectly timed passes that led directly to goals for Emile Smith Rowe and Adama Traoré.
The first goal came in the 33rd minute after a relatively quiet start to the game. Iwobi spotted Smith Rowe's forward run and chipped a delightful ball into his path. Smith Rowe, with great composure, squeezed his shot between the legs of Hoffenheim's goalkeeper Oliver Baumann from a tight angle, giving Fulham the lead.
Solid Defensive Display
Fulham’s defence, led by captain Bernd Leno, who wore the armband in his homeland, remained solid throughout the match. Leno was called upon to make routine saves from Andrej Kramarić and Anton Stach, ensuring Fulham maintained their advantage going into halftime.
The second half saw a more urgent Fulham side, with Iwobi and Smith Rowe combining neatly to create another chance early on. Iwobi's shot was parried by Baumann, and Rodrigo Muniz fired the rebound over the bar on the swivel.
At the other end, Hoffenheim’s Pavel Kaderabek caught a volley sweetly from a difficult angle, but Leno was equal to the task, pushing the ball behind his near post.
Traoré Doubles the Lead
Adama Traoré, who had been showing glimpses of his potential throughout pre-season, went close to scoring in the 59th minute. Taking a pass from Andreas Pereira, Traoré burst past his man and drew a fine fingertip stop from Baumann with a low shot.
However, Traoré didn’t have to wait long to get on the scoresheet. Iwobi once again was the architect, driving forward before curling a sublime diagonal pass into Traoré’s path. The winger showed great strength to hold off his defender and the composure to calmly slot the ball beyond the onrushing Baumann, making it 2-0 for Fulham.
Leno continued to impress, making a fantastic save to deny Marius Bülter’s vicious strike, readjusting his body superbly to keep the ball out with his legs.
In the closing stages, substitute Jorge Cuenca had a couple of opportunities to add to Fulham's tally, first seeing his header blocked and then having his snapshot deflect wide.
Final Thoughts
Fulham's 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim marks a highly productive end to their pre-season preparations. Marco Silva’s men will now turn their focus to the Premier League opener at Old Trafford next Friday, buoyed by a confident and cohesive team performance. With key players like Iwobi, Smith Rowe, and Traoré in fine form, Fulham fans have plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the season ahead.
