Fulham fans are left shaking their heads once again as the club finds itself tied to yet another questionable sponsorship deal. Despite reassurances that the club would learn from its previous mistakes, here we are, facing a new controversy. This time, it’s the partnership with IUX, a CFD (contract for difference) trading platform, raising eyebrows due to concerns over fake LinkedIn accounts linked to the company.

Why Do We Keep Doing This?

It’s not the first time Fulham has been caught out in a mess with CFD sponsors. The last debacle involving Titan Capital Markets, which turned out to be a Ponzi scheme, should’ve been a clear warning to tread carefully. Yet somehow, just months later, we’re once again left questioning the club’s decision-making process.

Martin Calladine, who runs The Ugly Game blog and has been covering these issues in football for years, didn’t hold back. “This should’ve been the moment the club stepped up its vetting process,” he wrote. “Instead, Fulham is making the same mistakes. No due diligence, and it shows.”

The real frustration for fans is that these decisions seem entirely avoidable. Sponsorships with CFD companies might bring in some cash, but what’s the cost in terms of reputation? And given how little money is typically involved in these deals compared to other commercial avenues, is it even worth the risk?

Where’s the Process?

It’s not just about money or reputation anymore. These sponsorship deals suggest something deeper—that there’s a serious lack of process in place. As one fan pointed out, “There’s either little to no due diligence, or there are no ethics—or both.” Whichever it is, Fulham’s commercial team needs to do better.

For a club with a storied history and passionate fanbase, these choices are puzzling. Why partner with companies that could damage Fulham’s brand when there are other, safer options out there?

The Khans Have Done So Much Right… But Why These Deals?

Let’s give credit where it’s due. Shahid and Tony Khan have done a lot for Fulham—investing heavily in the Riverside Stand, making smart moves in the transfer market, and steering the club into a strong financial position. With all this in place, why jeopardize everything with sponsorship deals that feel insignificant in the grand scheme of things?

Surely the money gained from these partnerships isn’t worth the potential embarrassment or damage to the club’s reputation. Fulham doesn’t need these deals. So why does it keep making them?

A Call for Change

It’s time for Fulham’s commercial operations, led by Alistair Mackintosh, to be thoroughly reviewed. The Khans have worked too hard and invested too much to allow these embarrassing sponsorship blunders to continue. The club has grown on the pitch and off it, but it’s crucial that the decision-making behind the scenes matches that ambition.

Fulham fans expect more. They deserve a club that reflects their passion and values, not one that keeps stumbling over deals that should have never been made in the first place.
